Pixelord – Dominator

To celebrate 3,200 followers, Moscow’s Pixelord is giving away a free track. Best known for his bleepy hip hop tracks, he always showed an interest in more dubstep oriented music. Like the track below.

Possibly available for a limited time only, so you might want to hit the download button quick.

Pixelord – Fish Touch (Tropical VIP)

Moscows’s Pixelord is giving the title tune from his last EP another twist by adding some proper UK garage flavours. And on top of that, he’s giving away the track as free download.

Find more of his music on his SoundCloud page or try some of our previous posts.

Pixelord – Tron Legacy Remix

I’m probably the last person that cares about that new Tron movie and I’m not particularly into (post-Homework) Daft Punk either, but this new remix by Pixelord makes all the difference to me.

The track is still available for free download, but you might want to hurry before Uncle Walt finds out!

Pixelord – Cybernator (Om Unit Remix)

It’s good to hear Om Unit exploring Drexciyan rhythms as he does on his latest remix for Russian beatmaker Pixelord.

This is only one of the six tracks off Pixelords forthcoming EP Fish Touch on the Error Broadcast label. Backed up with remixes by Leonard Dstroy (click!) and heRobust, the EP will be out on January 24, 2011.

Pixelord – Magic Firn

Originally planned to be part of a future release, Russian producer Pixelord is giving away this track for free. A bit harder than the material from his Lucid Freaks EP, but worth checking out.

Make sure to read this article on Sonic Router, in which Pixelord reveals more about his future plans. If you didn’t hear his mixtape for Pitchfork yet, I advise you to download it now!

Pixelord – Lucid Freaks pt. 2 – The Remixes

Think the first part of Lucid Freaks runs a bit short? Don’t worry, because Error Broadcast has just unlocked the bonus-levels featuring 11 stunning new reinterpretations.

The first part of the record stays faithful to the blips and bleeps of the originals, while on the second half the bass and the beats are predominant. With DZA, Demokracy, OL and Miracle Libido, a lot of Russian producers made their way on the record. Also featured are Dutch Jameszoo and Coco Bryce, Americans AshTreJinkins and Chocolate Girl, and Austria’s Abby Lee Tee.

Lucid Freaks part 2 is now available as digital release from Bandcamp or Bleep. If you want to make up your mind first, you can get the MP3s for free from Error Broadcast.

Having spent half of my youth in front of my Commodore homecomputer, I developed a love for these bleepy sounds at a young age. While I don’t remember which POKE was necessary to get the music playing, I will never forget names like Rob Hubbard or Jeroen Tel. In the early days of the second millennium, there were countless Finnish electro-outfits trying to revive those old chip-tunes. But it only got exciting in recent years, with a new generation of beatmakers stepping up. It were people like Zomby, Joker or Hayzee who inspired a whole new approach to making music out of blips and bleeps.

Pixelord is a part of that generation that I didn’t know before. Moscow-based Alexey Devyanin is the man behind this moniker and he’s not new the game. Under the name of Gultskra Artikler he has been releasing music since 2003 already.

His debut release has just been put out by the Error Broadcast, the label that put the music from Shlohmo, AEED and Swede:art on the map first. On their website, they describe this EP as “spliffed-out 8bit riddims, stumbling Hip Hop beats and a pinch of Euro Dance glam”.01. Pixelord Cartoon Friend
02. Pixelord Quartz Boy
03. Pixelord Cybernator

As with the label’s standard policy, you can download the MP3s for free or buy the high-quality files on Bandcamp.
