It’s been good to catch up on some mix shows lately, and I think there are a couple of stellar ones in this latest edition of weekend mixtapes.
Here’s a top 5 entry for best Hessle Audio shows of the year, as Ben UFO plays an exclusive recording by Terrence Dixon that nobody should miss, ranging from spaced out jazz to techno proper.
Mr Beatnick is joined by the rest of the Pride of Gombe pack on his NTS Radio show. Listen to 2 hours mixed b2b by Lukid, Samoyed, Astro:Dynamics, Kelpe, Adam Oko and the host of the show.
My favourite record of December turns out to be Hashman Deejay‘s debut album “Sandopolis”, released this week on the label Future Times. Had to check out some of his DJ mixes as well. Here’s one recorded at this year’s Dekmantel Festival.
What can I say, two hours of records selected by Floating Points and Four Tet, playing their recently found records from all over the world.
And lastly, dont’t miss out on the December edition of Funkineven‘s Apron show on NTS Live.
The latest Weekend Mixtapes largely consists of stuff we meant to post last week, but that should not worry you as there are some exceptionally good entries among them.
Funkineven‘s latest features about 60% music forthcoming on his own Apron Records label, including bits from Kyle Hall, Jay Daniel or Seven Davis Jr. Not to be missed!
The same goes for Theo Parrish and Dego, who took over the Do You show from the other day. Yup, that’s Theo Parrish and Dego McFarlane in one show!
Following the excellent FACT Mix by MGUN, London’s Fabric put out an exclusive Wild Oats mixtape by the Detroit producer.
You might have heard that Martyn is one of the many artists to have signed on Ninja Tune recently. And since he’s completed a new album for the label, Mixmag asked them to contribute a mixtape.
I might be late to the game, but the last Tom Trago album on Rush Hour has really grown on me in the last couple of weeks and months. A good reason to have an eye on the Amsterdam-based producer’s doings.
And lastly, let me add Daedelus‘ most recent Entropy Sessions for dublab!
Following a release on Kutmah’s IZWID label and a some teasing from Funkineven, there’s finally some news about the new Seven Davis Jr record. Titled “P.A.R.T.Y.”, the Los Angeles-based producer’s new 12-inch will be released on Apron Records in only a couple of weeks time. These snippets should give you a better idea of how the real thing is going to sound before you can pick it up in your favourite record store on March 11, 2014!
