Ask yourself when you last thought a kaleidoscope was crazy before you watch this video. Like a collage of looped video footage from the fifties, layered, mirrored and broken up again, this is quite a stunning piece of work. The music is taken from the forthcoming album from Bonobo, titled The North Borders and out through Ninja Tune on April 1, 2013. As a first taste, you can download the track from the video on the his website (click on the pre-order link!)
Credit where credit is due: the video is the work of Cyriak of Putty Boy Strut fame.
Here’s an edit of the Machinedrum remix to appear on the forthcoming Bonobo remix album. I’m not the biggest Bonobo fan and I’m often skeptical when it comes to remix albums, but a look at the featured artists and a listen at the snippets quickly got me excited about this one.
Among the remixers are FaltyDL, Mark Pritchard, Floating Points, Blue Daisy and I could stop here and buy the album already, but let me also mention ARP101, Cosmin TRG and Mike Slott.
A look at the full cast plus snippets are available on the Black Sands Remixed page. There you can also pre-order your copy on 3xLP, CD (plus bonus 5-inch) and digital download.
Speaking of downloads, you can download that Machinedrum edit from above in exchange for your email.
The second single off Bonobo’s Black Sands album once again features vocals from the gifted Andreya Triana. This is the music-video directed by Steve Glashier.
You can already get this single on 12-inch and digital. It features stunning remixes from Floating Points and Appleblim & Komonazmuk. A third remix from Warrior One can be downloaded from the Bonobo website.
