Earlier today, Andrew Meza’s BTS Recordings announced the release of their third release, a collection of remixes of S.Maharba. Among the remixers are illustrious beatmakers such as Mike Slott, Mono/Poly, Shigeto, Sweatson Klank, The Clonious, or Young Montana. From the latter comes the track you can hear above and download for free. Aptly titled Remixed, the full digital-only album will be available on February 19, more info on that on the BTS Radio website!
One of our 2011 favourites, Bristol’s Hyetal, has been this week’s guest on Solid Steel radio. Listen or download his mix on their SoundCloud page.
Seems London’s Bullion had to struggle a little with his Tom Ravenscroft remix. Haha, sorry!
Our latest podcast contributor Jay Scarlett recommended this Yosi Horikawa mix for Playground Mag, you might find it easy to agree on.
Here come the big sites: A Guy Called Gerald, Luke Vibert for Dazed, Daedalus for FACT Magazine, and Kowton for Dummy.
Lastly, you might want to check out the new BTS Radio guestmix by Toro Y Moi.
Not that many mixtapes this time, but enough to get you through a weekend. And hey, it’s never been about quantity, has it?
The latest Solid Steel show just went up on SoundCloud and this week it’s been Brighton’s Ital Tek stepping up on the decks. Download now!
Al Tourettes comes from Bristol and both his production and DJ mixes are a bit darker than what you usually get served here. If you’re not afraid of that, check out his Besti-mix.
Until very recently, I was a bit worried not to have heard any new music from DZA, but the Moscow-based beatmaker just released a new EP on his own label. What a good occasion to promote it with a guestmix for Cosmopolyphonic (there’s also a free tune!)
You are probably subscribed to BTS Radio for a long time, but let me make sure you haven’t missed the latest guestmix from Shigeto!
And lastly here’s one from the archives: 180 recorded sets from the one and only LTJ Bukem!
May 19,2012 I really enjoyed this live-set by Deepblak’s Aybee, so I added it to the list. And while I’m at it, check out the Gang Colours guestmix for Mary Anne Hobbs.
If you’re on a trip to your family, this could be your last minute chance to fill up your iPod. We had a couple of merry mixtapes last year, and thanks to an all-week laziness there’s enough good stuff to share with you.
The Crazy Birds have posted a Rush Hour mix by Cool Chris, celebrating the label that just won a couple of awards for the best label of 2010.
This year meant a strong move forward for James Blake, who after a strong series of EPs got an album coming out early 2011. He also played a fine DJ set at the Boiler Room this week, make sure to download that one!
More new music to be expected in 2011 comes from Spacek’s Morgan Zarate, who got an 12-inch on Hyperdub in the making. He also layed down a mix for Andrew Meza’s BTS Radio.
Radio 1’s Gilles Peterson met with one of his musical heroes, jazz pianist and synthesizer genius Herbie Hancock. Listen to what they’ve been up to on the Worldwide Podcast.
Lastly, I got three dubstep mixes for you. The first comes from Peverelist for Futureproofing, the second is the new XLR8R podcast by Oneman, and the third is a promo by Pariah for the NYE party he’s playing at.
Update Also have to mention Fulgeance’s guestmix, which was posted today a year ago. Never growing tired of that one!
For the last week or so, I was hardly listening to anything else but that Theo Parrish Special on Benji B’s show. Listening to the iPlayer is more important than you might think, it’s a direct way to measure the popularity of a show – something that might in the end decide whether a show will be continued. In the case of last week’s show I did all I could, but now you can no longer listen to it. Unless you download a recording.
I have posted this old Dego mix for BTS some weeks ago, now it’s officially back in the archive. Not to be confused with his more recent guestmix, posted in February.
To give his all new 12-inch an extra push, former Bugz in the Attic man Seiji has posted a new mix. Available as stream and download.
The last Pete Concrete mix is only about a month old, but the Eat Concrete head already made another one. Get this exclusive Eat my Garbage mix for Nalden.
Fresh out of the Hoya:Hoya stable comes a mix by its co-founder and 2010 RBMA alumni Illum Sphere.
If you’re missing Lukid‘s sessions on Ustream, here’s a little compensation: for the all new Svetlana Industries shortcast he has put together a mix.
Rush Hour‘s Antal was visiting São Paulo for the Bienal and brought back some records you can listen to on Brasil Show part 1.
Lastly, here are two mixes from the Resident Advisor podcast. Last week they were graced by a dubstep-meets-techno mix by Kowton, this week they have a house mix by the trio of Detroit Beatdown.
While I’m not a big fan of the music, the artwork for Skream’s new album Outside the Box is truly remarkable. A nice feature by September Industry.
London’s Mr. Beatnick is back with his follow-up to his Broken Beat Essentials article, just this time he focuses on the great Theo Parrish.
Andrew Meza has posted another gem from the BTS Radio archives, making Domu‘s set from February 2005 available for download!
R&S has a limited repress of James Blake’s CMYK 12-inch on transparent yellow vinyl, be quick if you missed it the first time around.
Dutch director Ramon Gieling has shot a Great Lengths short movie about Martyn‘s deceased father, a prominent football player in the Netherlands.
I got two more videos for you: Aloe Blacc‘s acoustic version of Politician on KEXP, and Danny Krivit talking about The Art of the Edit.
Oh, and just because I feel bad not having posted this 9-hours mixtape by 2000F & J Kamata, I will do so now.

Some old bits can be found on Luke Vibert’s UK Hardcore Rap mix or this Autechre live-set from 1996.

As usual, Dego doesn’t provide a tracklist for the mix. Expect lots of hip-hop, soul tunes, funk and some jazz. Grab the download from the BTS website.
Andrew Meza’s BTS Radio made a much welcomed return with their newly launched site. Since its launch in 2003, Andrew spotlighted fresh talent long before anybody else on the scene. Flying Lotus, Hudson Mohawke, Georgia Ann Muldrow or J*Davey are just a few names of artists played on the station.
