Blludd Relations – Anything But The Fingers

Considering how much I was anticipating the release of that Bllud Relations, I wonder why I still haven’t bought myself a copy. So this is somewhat a reminder for myself, for I’m a sucker for just about everything that has a little Bullion involvement. Well, maybe you’re asking yourself the same questions after hearing the duo’s piece above. Keep an eye on the DEEK Bandcamp page for the single, or if you rather fancy the full album, I’ve spotted copies at Boomkat, Rush Hour and HHV.

Weekend Mixtapes #36

Digger’s Digest out of Paris made a great french jazz mix for the Jazz Meet Radio Show by Nik Weston, pure vibes. I definitely need more of this in my life.

Similar to this, Gilles Peterson made a mix of his favourite british jazz funk records for Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel Radio. Still not enough of Mr. Peterson, you could listen to Majestic Mood’s new Groove Merchants radio show which has a nice little interview with him.

Cologne’s Damiano von Erckert did the latest mix for Radio Juicy. Playing Sun Ra next to Omar S is always appreciated.

And in case you missed it -which would be hard to believe- FunkinEven did this week’s mix for Resident Advisor. Proper house music with some nice exclusives.

Tetsuo throws in two more mixes, Bullion‘s latest on the Boiler Room mix and James Murphy playing at the DFA 12th anniversary party.

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Mixtapes #31

Okay, I’m in the middle of something and I’ll be gone for a couple of days. So, this will be a very quick rundown of mixtapes worth checking out this weekend.

FaltyDL invited Loefah and Dego to play with him on NTS Live
Kyle Hall B2B FunkinEven at the Boiler Room
Pépé Bradock did a very special mix for
– Detroit’s Rick Wade was invited to play on the Smugglers Inn podcast
Jam City on the latest Resident Advisor podcast
The New Jerusalem hosted by Bullion
– …and another Boiler Room session by Jeremiah Jae

Have a nice weekend all!

Blludd Relations – Even Steven

Only a couple of days ago, we posted the Bllud Manifesto, a first track of the new collaborative project by Bullion and Jesse Hackett. Playful as ever, the track manages to span from blues to galactic funk and it has those vocals that became Bullion’s sort of new trademark. All in all something to look forward to, just that there’s (again) no info on a possible release. Patience!

Blludd Relations – Blludd Manifesto

Bullion’s Deek Recordings unleashed another new side-project, this time the busy Londoner teams up with Jesse Hackett (aka Elmore Judd.) It’s not first collaboration, but this time it’s a longplayer they have on their mind. No further details, just the teaser you can listen to above – enjoy!

Vondelpark – California Analog Dream (Bullion Remix)

As we’re awaiting Vondelpark‘s new album Seabed on R&S Records, their label mate Bullion gives us a glimpse of what we can expect to hear on the record. If this dreamy song is indicator, then you can expect the Londoners venture further embracing pop sensitivies. The album will be released on April 1st, 2013 and you can pre-order on Rough Trade or iTunes.

DEEK: Short Attention Spam Vol. 1

Yesterday, Bullion was playing at the Young Turks special at Boiler Room, today he’s sharing a DEEK mini-mixtape. Sounds like music that could potentially come out on his label, or maybe that’s bunch of his monikers. Wild speculation. The only track we know about is Fixxx by his new band Nautic.

01. Hello To Deek (with Mr Swimming Pool)
02. BLLUDD RELATIONS – Even Steven
03. Jesse Hackett – Many People Of The Songbird (Demo)
04. Bullion – Save Your Lubb
05. Nautic – Fixxx
06. Otis – HMRC Lament
07. Blue Roses – Dream Story (Demo)
08. Bullion – Health
09. Van Conk – I’m On Fire When I’m In Reverse
10. Louis Hackett – Theme For Florence

No download, but what is wrong with streaming in the age of always online?

Nautic – Fixxx

Following releases on One-Handed Music and R&S, London’s Bullion started his own label Deek Recordings earlier this year. The second release is a 7-inch by Nautic, a trio consisting of Tic, Laura Groves and Bullion himself. The record will be in stores starting December 3, 2012, pre-orders are available from Boomkat and Rush Hour. Digital buyers will be able to get it directly from the label.

Django Django – Skies Over Cairo (Bullion Version)

Django Django is a British band with their home in London and only a couple of days ago, they released an EP titled Hail Bop. Among its tracks is the lovely Bullion remix you are hopefully listening to by now. But you can even go a step further and make it your’s, just head over to Because Music website and make a choice: vinyl or digital. Easy!

Weekend Mixtapes

One of our 2011 favourites, Bristol’s Hyetal, has been this week’s guest on Solid Steel radio. Listen or download his mix on their SoundCloud page.

Seems London’s Bullion had to struggle a little with his Tom Ravenscroft remix. Haha, sorry!

Our latest podcast contributor Jay Scarlett recommended this Yosi Horikawa mix for Playground Mag, you might find it easy to agree on.

Here come the big sites: A Guy Called Gerald, Luke Vibert for Dazed, Daedalus for FACT Magazine, and Kowton for Dummy.

Lastly, you might want to check out the new BTS Radio guestmix by Toro Y Moi.

Bullion – It’s All In Sound

His Bullionness has uploaded a cut from his forthcoming EP, Love Me Oh Please Love Me, and it’s sa release to look forward to. Listen for yourself.

Sporting six new tracks, the EP will be first release on new Dutch label DEEK and it will be out on April 30, 2012. You can pre-order the 12-inch and digital from Bullion’s Bandcamp page.

Bullion – Magic Was Ruler

Following his brilliant You Drive Me To Plastic, his Bullionness returns with another 7-inch on the Young Turks label, the title track is available for stream below.

No idea about the b-side, maybe this will be another one-sided vinyl with an artwork on the flip. What we do know is the release date and that’s May 9th, 2011.

Model 500 – OFI (Bullion’s Rivertrance Mix)

You might have heard it before, it’s been out for a couple of weeks now. We’re talking about Bullion‘s brilliant remix for Juan Atkin’s legendary Detroit outfit Model 500. And “brilliant” might not be the appropriate expression here, bananas would be more suiting for this psychedelic trip.

The Space Dimension Controller remix on the flipside goes into a different direction, but it’s none the less a killer for itself. You can still get hold of this 10-inch from about everywhere, we suggest you start at your favourite local record store!

Mixtape Monday #19

We already mentioned mixes from Legowelt, Ahu, 8bitch and Black & Blue in yesterday’s weekly bits, today we already got some more to share.

It’s Valentine’s Day and like every year, Hudson Mohawke has put together a special tape for the occasion. Another mix for lovers comes from Krystal Klear, titled Everything is Shit….Except You Love.

With Swim, Canada’s Caribou delivered an album that found itself in many best-of lists by the end of last year. For Resident Advisor, main man Dan Snaith made a contribution to their podcast series.

Earlier this month, Toro Y Moi delivered a mix for FACT Magazine and it’s been a personal favourite of mine over the weekend. Watch out for the new album coming out later this month!

More mixes come from New York based Brendon Moeller, who made a mix for Field Records. Lone has recorded a stream-only mix to promote his show at this year’s Bloc Weekend.

And lastly, we’re revisiting Silkie‘s mix for RBMA Radio, originally aired in 2009.

Update This one just came in, it’s Bullion’s guestmix for Benji B‘s show last week.

Weekly Bits 6/2011

With the new Ghostpoet album available now on Brownswood, the label made the full thing available for stream via Spinner.

Since we posted the video on How To Apply For The Red Bull Music Academy in Tokyo, several other videos have popped up. Hear more words of wisdom from Recloose, Teebs, Mwëslee or Braiden. What’s Really Good also has one with Lunice and Put Me On It is giving some extra advice to all future applications.

Belgian R&S Records continues putting out quality music, their latest 12-inch sport remixes from Bullion and Space Dimension Controller for Detroit legends Model 500.

Also available on vinyl are the magnificent Scientist dubs of Scientist Launches Dubstep Into Outer Space, released on Pinch’s Tectonic label.

When Floating Points recommends a mixtape, you better listen up. The Gospel According to Budgie is the mix in question and will only be available for a limited time!

Legowelt did a megamix for the forthcoming Virgo Four Resurrection boxset on Rush Hour, Ahu gives a preview to Turkey’s Sunsplash Festival and 8bitch made a new mix for Surefire Sound. For some harder sounds, you might want to get this mix from Titonton & Charles Noel aka Black & Blue

Lastly, here’s a free download from Hotflush founder Scuba, an older track that never made it on a release.
