Earlier this week, the new Doc Daneeka EP “From Mine To Mistress” was released on his own Ten Thousand Yen label. Two of the tracks feature rising star Seven Davis Jr. on vocal duties, one of them being the lush I Promise. Unfortunately, the Kon (of Kon & Amir fame) edit you can hear above is not part of package, so you have to stick with the stream taken from his SoundCloud page.
Shortly after the release of his collaborative album with Benjamin Damage, Manchester’s Doc Daneeka released Tobyjug with singer Abigail Wyles on the Two Thousand Yen label. It took a little longer to complete an official video for the song, but I think Lewis Lloyd did a wonderful job on it.
You can purchase Tobychug on limited vinyl or as digital download. Beside the original version, it also features a club compatible remix by Lando Kal of Lazersword fame.
2012 is the year to keep an eye on both Modeselektor operated labels Monkeytown/50Weapons. I’m very excited about the forthcoming Mouse on Mars album, and I was anticipating the release of the LP by Benjamin Damage & Doc Daneeka for some time.
Titled They!Live, that album went on sale today and it’s accompanied by the video above, directed by Lewis Watkins.
Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood label is readying a new release by Japanese death jazz outfit Soil & “PIMP” Session, presumably a 12-inch with remixes.
No further details yet, but you can already listen to the Doc Daneeka‘s remix above. The original version of Pop Korn was previosuly available on 10-inch and the band’s sixth studio album.
More info on this release to follow soon!
