It’s still about five weeks time until the much anticipated Fhloston Paradigm debut album drops on Hyperdub. To get you through that hard time, King Britt and Mike Todd have put together the 10-minute album mix you can watch above. Should you decide to pre-order your copy of “The Phoenix”, you will get an upfront track on both Bleep and iTunes.
May 22, 2014 would have been the day Sun Ra turned 100 years old. The likes of Mr Beatnick, The Reboot Joy Confession, DJ Aardvarck, and Philadelphia icon King Britt.
“I wanted to take the opportunity to do something different for this Solid Steel mix and I decided to approach the mix as if I was ‘back from a good night out’ and winding down with some late night weird selections from my vinyl collection”, says Bristol’s Pinch about his guestmix for the show.
Bugz in the Attic took over the Rinse airwaves for a rare Bank Holiday special. Then again, much more has been going on in the last couple of weeks, as some former Bugz members started their new label Ten50 Records.
My favourite radio show at this moment clearly is the latest Hessle Audio, which is available now on the Rinse FM podcast channel (direct link) for download.
And there are more radio shows worth checking out:
–Lukid on NTS Live
–Tom Trago on Beats in Space
–Four Tet & Joe Goddard on NTS Live
–Floating Points & Sadar Bahar on NTS Live
–Martyn & Guest on NTS Live
Have a nice weekend, everybody!
King Britt makes music under a lot of names, when I think of it, I probably even heard him first under one of his aliases. On Hyperdub, he goes by the name Fhloston Paradigm, put out an EP last year, and -if I remember correctly- there’s going to be a full length release later this autumn. New music only makes sense, now that this new video popped up. Check it out!
It’s weekend time, so here’s a selection of mixtapes I mentioned this week on Twitter.
French label 7even Recordings launched their own podcast series and they kick off with a mix by ENA, whose new 12-inch was only released the other day.
The second release on Jacques Greene’s Vase label comes from London duo Arclight and they’ve done an interview and guest mix for Dazed Digital.
King Britt has been releasing music under so many names, it’s hard to keep up. He just released a new EP on Hyperdub under his Fhloston Paradigm moniker and promotes it with a guestmix for FACT.
As Run Dem Crew is getting ready for the Berlin half-marathon, their founding member Morgan Zarate has done a 20-minutes mix for running.
I wish I had the time to keep up with radio shows, but here’s one I have to recommend. Tim’s You’ll Soon Know is on every Monday night and on his latest show his guests are Om Unit and Laurent Fintoni.
And lastly, check this 2003 Four Tet for Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide.
