Now-Again has released an deluxe edition of Kashmere Stage Band’s Texas Thunder Soul 1968-1974. It not only contains the album on CD and 2LP, but also a DVD with documentaries and a making-of by B+ and Flying Lotus!
More good mixes are coming by the way of Rinse FM. Floating Points did a nice Brazil special, Bugz in the Attic’s Daz-I-Kue guests the Digital Soundboy show, and Simbad played a three hour set alongside Mosca.
We mentioned Dego‘s upcoming live-show in London before, but Europeans can catch him on several DJ gigs as well.
The city of Munich will host an exhibition on electronic pioneers Kraftwerk later this year in autumn. I’m particularly interested in its catalogue, Kraftwerk: 3D, which should make it to regular bookstores around the world.
FACT Magazine had quite some exciting album news this week, including Zomby’s Dedication, Silkie’s City Limits Vol. 2 and Björk’s iPad album. There were some links up for a stream of Zomby’s album, but they currently don’t seem to work
Aus Music’s Midland did an exclusive mixtape for URB Mag. So did Dego for W Hotels, but it’s kinda hard to find (click on Living Room, then switch to playlist mode.) Lastly, here is another Kutmah mix for the Sketchbook radio show.
Let’s go back to Gil Scott-Heron one more time: Ninja Mixdump just posted an old concert from 1977. You can listen to the stream on Mixcloud or find the download link over here.
Remixing Suite for Ma Dukes is a brave undertaking. Several producers and MCs at first accepted and then declined the job. In the end we think we got the right person. It is with great pleasure on the week of Mothers Day to release this remix. Done while mothering by none other than Georgia Anne Muldrow.
You have to visit the VTech website for the fullscreen version, there you can also download an MP3 of that remix.
In September 2008, I euphorically wrote about the remixes of IG Culture’s Zen Badizm album. Fast forward to 2010 and it seems they have been forgotten by now, including the label guys.
Only today IG Culture reminded us about one of them, the remix from Georgia Anne Muldrow. IG doesn’t mention whether it will ever get a proper release, but he tells us to “look out for the NSM refit coming soon!” Keep your fingers crossed.
March 23, 2010 Removed the file on request, you can still listen to it on the Holy Roller blog.
If you didn’t know, The Clonious is Vienna-based Paul Mohavedi and together with Dorian Concept one of the signings on Affine Records. His album, however, was released on Ubiquity Records and is available on vinyl and digital formats.
As mentioned before, the track above was taken from a compilation which you can get for free over at zero”. While you’re at it you should also have a look at last year’s edition (Dorian Concept alert!), which also comes for free.
