A little different vibe from Toronto jazz trio BADBADNOTGOOD, uploaded “in support” of their SXSW 2015 show this weekend with Ghostface Killah. The tune is the b-side of a limited 7-inch released on Innovative Leisure. And since I couldn’t think of a better vibe to send you off into your well-deserved weekend, I hope you all have a great one!
What you hear above is the first piece of original music by Canadian jazz trio BADBADNOTGOOD since their album III came out on Innovative Leisure earlier this year. Since their is no additional info about a future release, I assume it was merely put out to promote their October live tour on the West Coast.
Gerry Read and Kyle Hall are the two gents who got to remix tracks from this year’s Nosaj Thing record on Innovative Leisure. I guess I’m more into Gerry’s remix which you can hear above. Both tracks are out now on vinyl and and digital.
Turns out that Los Angeles’ Nosaj Thing launched his own sub-branch on Innovative Leisure, the label that put out his second album Home earlier this year. The first release on Timetable Records comes from Nosaj Thing’s childhood friend D Tiberio and sounds a tad bit more UK than LA, as you can hear above. The digital release is already available on iTunes, a limited vinyl release should follow on March 12, 2013.
It’s been three years since his last album Drift came out, but to me it feels much longer. The wait is almost over, following a first teaser, Jason Chung’s second album as Nosaj Thing will be out end of January. Titled Home, the record will be out through Los Angeles-based label Innovative Leisure and it features vocal collaborations with Kazu Makino and Toro y Moi. Here’s a look at the full tracklist.01. Home
02. Eclipse/Blue feat. Kazu Makino
09. Try (feat. Toro y Moi)
10. Phase III
11. Light 3
You can listen to snippets of the record on the Bleep website, where you can also pre-order a copy on LP, CD and several download formats. The release date for the former two is January 21st, the downloads will be available a day earlier.
Turns out that teaser from some weeks back didn’t have much to do with the final version of the new Nosaj Thing video. You might not even want to call it a music video, it certainly feels more like the backdrop for a dance performance. But it’s a nice one, don’t you think? It’s the work of Daito Manabe, Japanese multimedia artist and best known for electric stimulus experiments, or more recently the video for FaltyDL’s Straight & Arrow.
For more insights on the making of this video and an interview with the artist, check out The Creators Project. As for the music, the track featuring Kazu Makino on vocals is already available on 10-inch and digital through Innovative Leisure.
Following that video teaser from earlier this month, Nosaj Thing has posted the full version of his new track Eclipse/Blue. The single featuring Blonde Redhead singer Kazu Makino on vocals will be out on October 2 through Innovative Leisure. Amazon has both, the 10-inch record and the digital release, for pre-order.
The second Nosaj Thing album goes by the name of Home and should be out early next year!
October 9, 2012 Daedelus gave the track his own twist, you can listen to it on his SoundCloud.
How long have we’ve been waiting for a new sign from Nosaj Thing and now here it is in the shape of a video teaser. There’s not much info coming with the clip, but apparently there’s a new single coming out on Innovative Leisure, scheduled for a release on October 2, 2012. Eclipse/Blue features vocals from Blonde Redhead singer Kazu Makino and could first be heard on Mary Anne Hobbs earlier this year.
You can pre-order the digital download on Amazon US and Amazon UK, a vinyl release is also planned.
