Kool & The Gang – Summer Madness (Onur Engin Edit)

Here’s one track I can never get enough of, be it the original, the live version or this new edit by Onur Engin. For Swedish label G.A.M.M. he reworks two classic tracks by Kool & The Gang and James Mason and you’re invited to listen to the former… to give you a bit of a feeling for the weekend to come.

You can literally walk into a record store after work and pick up the release on 12-inch. Or you can order your copy from Juno, Rush Hour or Groove Dis.

Maverick Sessions Two

With Jay Scarlett being one of the pioneer selectors in this whole beat thing, you already know you need to get your hands on the upcoming compilation Maverick Sessions Two. It was put together by himself and Ubeat co-founder Onur Engin.

Mixtape Monday #3

Other websites have their Follow Friday, here you get a Mixtape Monday every now and then. That’s basically a selection of mixtapes I posted on Twitter before, sometimes more than that.

Let’s start the third edition with a triplet from Bugz in the Attic. Their all new remix collection Got the Bug 2 will be out through BBE on October 5, in the meantime you can listen to the promo mix. Another new mix is their Carnival Spesh podcast for Vulive together with Simbad. And the latest podcast offering from Daz-I-Kue is also available, it goes by the name of Vinyl Love Unplugged Vol. 1.

Low End Theory offers a new podcast mixed by Gaslamp Killer and Mary Anne Hobbs. If you need more of this sound, I recommend downloading TOKiMONSTA’s mix for Musique Large.

I mentioned 2562’s new album just yesterday, today FACT Magazine delivers a new mix by the man. A journey from house and techno towards more dubby territory.

London-based producer Mr. Beatnick was featured on Mary Anne Hobbs’ Experimental some weeks back. That guestmix is now available for download on his SoundCloud page.

Versatile Records‘ I:Cube played at Sunday Best back in July, in case you didn’t grab his set already do it now!

The last mix comes from Ubeat‘s Onur Engin, who also runs Monotape Radio. For over 45 minutes he blends a selection of Turkish jazz music, you can listen to it here (download will follow is here).

Onur Engin – Garden of Buddha

Record Sleeve

Ubeat Records is a young label founded in 2008 by Beat Dimension mastermind Jay Scarlett and Monotape radio-host Onur Engin. Their second release comes from Onur himself and I’m very happy that this got on my radar.

Apart from the very strong original (probably my favourite track), there are remixes from Fulgeance, Japanese beatmaker Ichiro and Appletree signing Sotu the Traveller.A1. Garden Of Buddha
A2. Garden Of Buddha (Fulgeance Buddhamental remix)
B1. Garden Of Buddha (Ichiro remix)
B2. Garden Of Buddha (Sotu The Traveller remix)

You can buy Garden of Buddha as digital download at Juno, iTunes and a couple of others. The artwork leaves hope for a physical release, though this hasn’t happened in Ubeat’s past.
