It once again struck me that there are expressions in music’s vocabulary that don’t make much sense. House and garage for instance once were the very same thing, one derived from Chicago’s Warehouse club while the other was coined at New York’s Paradise Garage. Fast forward two decades and the UK gave garage a whole new meaning. And that’s just a side-note as I was about to describe the following track as house on a garage tip. Whatever.
Anyway, I came across this thanks to Ahu who played it on her radio-show only yesterday. It’s the Disclosure remix taken from the latest 12-inch by Jessie Ware and it’s already available through PMR Records‘s webstore.
London’s PMR Records kickstarts with a new single by Julio Bashmore. The EP starts with the Battle For Middle You, which is already one of the best tunes I’ve heard this year. Not quite sure why it keeps reminding me of 12th Planet’s Get Down, it’s probably just the lyrics.
The rest of the EP continues a bit calmer, but never the less every single tune is worth getting yourself a copy.A1. Battle For Middle You
A2. Ask Yourself
B1. Everyone Needs A Theme Tune
B2. The Horn That Time Forgot
In the meantime a remix by new Ramadanman moniker Maurice Donovan has popped up on the PMR page on SoundCloud. You can listen to the stream below, but I haven’t found any info regarding the availability of the track.
“Everyone Needs A Theme Tune” is already available from Rush Hour and Juno has it for pre-order. Or simply get the digital release on Bleep or iTunes.
Feb 14, 2011 The remix EP is available now, featuring mixes by Maurice Donovan and Midland
