Just a little something to get you in the right mood for the weekend. Watch three minutes of Roy Ayers performing his classic good vibes song “Everybody Loves The Sunshine”, taken from the 1976 LP of the same name.
Roy Ayers will be performing at this year’s edition of the Worldwide Festival, which kicks off next Monday, July 6th.
Director Kahlil Joseph, who already shot the video for Aloe Blacc’s I Need a Dollar, and cameraman Bradford Young are responsible for this nicely photographed images for Seu Jorge & Almaz.
In this video, you can hear three cover-versions taken from their self-titled album: Roy Ayers’ “Everybody Loves The Sunshine,” Martinho da Vila and João de Aquino’s “Cirandar” and Kraftwerk’s “The Model”.
The album is out on Stones Throw sidekick Now-Again.
At the age of 68, Roy Ayers feels anything but old when it comes to playing his music in front of an audience. Here’s a nice recording from his recent concert in Cologne, playing a 13 minutes long version of the 1982 classic Our Time Is Coming.
The track was re-recorded in 2001 by Masters at Work and received one of my favourite treatments by the guys of Jazzanova.
