Weekly Bits 19/2009

Not long ago, I have written about Paul White’s 12-inch One Eye Open. Now you can download his previous releases for a price of your choosing, including the option to download it for free.

Some new material from Dorian Concept has been played on the latest edition of Radio 1’s Experimental show. The mix is running for about 15 minutes only, but it’s worth every second!

Following Fluid Ounce‘s massive DVD Collection, founder Chris Vogado (one half of ZerodB) features both old and new music from the label’s catalogue on this exclusive mix for Tru Thoughts.

Another great mixtape comes once again from Future Vintage, put together by Dutch producer I.N.T. A lot of spaced out beats, including music featured on this blog!

If you’re a producer and don’t mind the tight deadline, you should give this remix contest from Brownswood a try. To be remixed are tracks from Dobie‘s recent 12-inch The New Madness.

Kirk Degiorgio has dug out some of his older mixes for Nuphonic‘s London Xpress show. The only chance to listen to them is via his SoundCloud page, downloads are not available.

Another interesting radioshow comes once again from Future Vintage. The reason why this caught my attention is a short recording of Kaidi Tatham playing live at Amsterdam’s Paradiso. It’s only one track and it’s running in the background, but it’s accompanied by a short interview with the man.

Did anybody listen to the album from Heavy yet? I have the feeling I should get my hands on this, I liked their previous output a lot. Let me know what you think!

Mayer Hawthorne Video and Interview

Here’s a video of Stones Throw soul-singer Mayer Hawthorne, who will be touring Europe in March alongside James Pants, Peanut Butter Wolf and Dam-Funk. It was recorded only two days ago somewhere in California, and it features him with his band The County performing their great debut single Just Ain’t Gonna Work Out.

For more about the tour, his influences and production I recommend this interview on the Future Vintage website. There he also announces the release of the new single Maybe So, Maybe No for March, his album can be expected later this year.

Feb 20, 2009 The video was actually recorded at the live debut in Fullerton, here is another clip
