Following the official Joined Ends Remix EP and a interpretation by Dim Grimm (formerly Dimlite), here is more unofficial business by the way of Zanshin. One half of Ogris Debris and as such label mate with Dorian Concept, the Viennese producer shares his very own version of “11.04.2012”, a track that was part of last year’s Joined Ends album on Ninja Tune.
You can download this in its full glory (and for free) from Zanshin’s SoundCloud page.
Vienna’s Dorian Concept is back with a new track, or an out-take from the recording sessions for his last album Joined Ends. The track also serves as a reminder for this Saturday’s (sold out) live show at London’s Roundhouse, where Dorian plays in support of Cinematic Orchestra.
Last month, Ninja Tune also release the Joined Ends Remix EP, featuring notable tracks by Kuedo and Bibio.
It’s been quiet about Dim Grimm (aka Dimlite) for some time, and so far I blamed the recording of his Cite album for it. However, only yesterday I found about his new Dym Quell Holo alias, but then again that’s a different story. Today, the official Dim Grimm is back with an interpretation of Dorian Concept’s “The Sky Opposite”, taken from last year’s Joined Ends album.
Ninja Tune is about to release the official Joined Ends Remix EP in late April, featuring Tim Hecker’s interpretation of the same track. In the meantime, Dim’s take is available for free download!
Of all the tracks on Dorian Concept‘s Joined Ends, one could argue that “The Sky Opposite” shares a lot of emotion with Tim Hecker‘s music. From that perspective I find it interesting to hear what the latter made of his remix, or that he even picked the track. Anyway, earlier today Ninja Tune revealed the release of the Joined End Remix EP , which also includes remixes by Kuedo, Nathan Fake, Bibio and Redinho, the last one being a digital exclusive.
Still a while to go until you can pick this up at your favourite record store, the remix EP will be out in late April. Pre-orders available from the NinjaShop and iTunes.
As you might have noticed, I’m rather busy with other things than blogging lately. But it’s always worth taking the time when there’s some Dorian Concept related news, don’t you agree? It’s still a month to go until his new album Joined Ends drops on Ninja Tune, but the Vienna-based producer couldn’t help it but play a couple of new tunes at yesterday’s Boiler Room event in his hometown. He also brought some friends, namely his fellow Affine family consisting of Cid Rim & The Clonious, Sixtus Preiss et al.
We’ve had a very special relationship with Dorian Concept since the early days of this blog (also our first interview!) and have been speculating about a release of his new album in autumn for some months now. As of today, the news is official: Ninja Tune announced the release of “Joined Ends” for late September and shared the track you can hear above. This also makes Dorian Concept’s relationship with the label a full circle, for some of you might remember him posting his early attempts at their forum. Well done, well done!
You can pre-order Joined Ends from the Ninja Store, before it drops in record stores on September 22, 2014.
July 11, 2014 You can also listen to the track on Spotify!
