We’re only one week away until Illum Sphere‘s second album “Glass” drops on Ninja Tune, and so the label reveals a third preview on their SoundCloud page. Not exactly a preview to the album, but a remix from one of this tracks, delivered by Jamal Moss aka Hieroglyphic Being.
For more Illum Sphere related news, make sure to check out his guest-mix on the latest Hessle Audio show!
On of the busiest producers out there for sure, FaltyDL has released yet another 12-inch on Ninja Tune. Titled “Visceral”, it’s his second single on the label that features new work, the other being “Rich Prick Poor Dick” from September. Both records should still be available in all good record stores, I spotted copies online at Bleep and Juno.
The video above was directed by Wolfpack and Caroline Sodergren.
Vienna’s Dorian Concept is back with a new track, or an out-take from the recording sessions for his last album Joined Ends. The track also serves as a reminder for this Saturday’s (sold out) live show at London’s Roundhouse, where Dorian plays in support of Cinematic Orchestra.
When this (totally unnecessary) sequel to Blade Runner was announced the other day, I could not help but fantasise about Kuedo doing its soundtrack, to me that’s the obvious choice. It’s unfortunate that such movie projects are not made to fill the hearts of fans with love, but to make a quick buck out of their nostalgia. Well, don’t be upset, it doesn’t help. I recommend pressing that play button above, then close your eyes and picture flying in a Syd Mead-designed flying car over dystopian Los Angeles.
Of all the tracks on Dorian Concept‘s Joined Ends, one could argue that “The Sky Opposite” shares a lot of emotion with Tim Hecker‘s music. From that perspective I find it interesting to hear what the latter made of his remix, or that he even picked the track. Anyway, earlier today Ninja Tune revealed the release of the Joined End Remix EP , which also includes remixes by Kuedo, Nathan Fake, Bibio and Redinho, the last one being a digital exclusive.
Still a while to go until you can pick this up at your favourite record store, the remix EP will be out in late April. Pre-orders available from the NinjaShop and iTunes.
Luke Vibert gives the drummer some on his remix for FaltyDL, the original take from latest album In The Wild. Since the track is not part of the obscurely named ///I\II\\\\ EP, I’m going to assume there is more new music to come from Drew Lustman in the near future. Will keep you updated once more details have been revealed!
However, Luke Vibert has revived his Amen Andrews alias to release a new EP on FaltyDL’s Blueberry label. You can grab your copy here!
Following his album In The Wild, Drew Lustman is readying a new EP with remixes by the likes of μ-Ziq, Blueberry-signed Brrd, Los Angeles-based E+E, and remixes by FaltyDL himself. Eight tracks in total, the EP called “///I\II\\\\” (yes, really!) will be out on November 27, 2014 via Ninja Tune.A1. Greater Antilles VIP

As you might have noticed, I’m rather busy with other things than blogging lately. But it’s always worth taking the time when there’s some Dorian Concept related news, don’t you agree? It’s still a month to go until his new album Joined Ends drops on Ninja Tune, but the Vienna-based producer couldn’t help it but play a couple of new tunes at yesterday’s Boiler Room event in his hometown. He also brought some friends, namely his fellow Affine family consisting of Cid Rim & The Clonious, Sixtus Preiss et al.
I guess I have been out of the habit to buy CDs for many years by now, but I remember the inexplicable practice to put extra tracks on the Japanese version of almost every album. And how many I bought just to get them. These it’s a bit easier to catch a glimpse of this continuing practice. FaltyDL for instance shared the bonus track of his excellent new album In The Wild on his SoundCloud profile. Judge for yourself whether it’s a worthy addition or just a random extra to please the industry.
Oh, and since we’re at it, don’t miss the FaltyDL guestmix on the latest Beats In Space radio-show (or listen back to his previous one!)
New York producer Drew Lustman aka FaltyDL has been teasing us with tracks from his new album, “In The Wild”, for some weeks now, but the wait finally comes to an end. The much awaited follow-up to last year’s Hardcourage will be available in record stores around the world starting on Monday. As he mentioned himself on last night’s Swamp81 show, he feels he returned to form, had a very productive year and so the album was finished in not time (“return to form”, can you believe he said that?!) I just had a first listen myself, and it’s nothing short of a great record, possibly his most diverse to date. But why don’t you give listen for yourself, aside from Spotify you can do so on the New York Times’ Press Play without having to sign up for anything.
We’ve had a very special relationship with Dorian Concept since the early days of this blog (also our first interview!) and have been speculating about a release of his new album in autumn for some months now. As of today, the news is official: Ninja Tune announced the release of “Joined Ends” for late September and shared the track you can hear above. This also makes Dorian Concept’s relationship with the label a full circle, for some of you might remember him posting his early attempts at their forum. Well done, well done!
You can pre-order Joined Ends from the Ninja Store, before it drops in record stores on September 22, 2014.
July 11, 2014 You can also listen to the track on Spotify!
Following his collaboration with Kieran Hebden, Dutch producer Martyn today premiered another track taken from his new album on Ninja Tune. This one is a feature with former Hype Williams partner Inga Copeland on vocals. “The Air Between Words” will be out in about two weeks time on June 16, 2014. Pre-orders available on the NinjaShop.
There’s little info about this tune from Martyn and Four Tet, but you’ve probably heard it in one of their DJ sets from the last couple of months. Apparently, it’s taken from Martyn’s forthcoming album The Air Between Words on Ninja Tune, set for a release in mid-June. Judging from the name, the version you can hear above is probably different from the album track. As I said, no info available.
May 6, 2014 Kieran just confirmed on his new show on NTS Live, that the version above is not the one on the album. Instead it will be available on a separate 12-inch.
Actress’ Ghettoville has been expected for quite some time now, avid fans will remember the announcement about a release in autumn. Autumn 2012 that is. After all it was as unbelievable as it sounded back then, it would have been his second album released within a year, following the excellent R.I.P. There’s still little news about the record, the artwork has been released, accompanied by a cryptic note, the tracklist and a release date (January 27, 2014!)01. Forgiven
02. Street Corp.
You might not like the idea of pre-ordering a copy of an album, you haven’t heard yet. But I feel obligated to recommend a look at your options, specifically the deluxe edition of the album which will be accompanied by the first-ever vinyl pressing Hazyville, his 2008 debut album. Exclamation mark. According to the NinjaShop that will be exclusive to the box-set.
Lastly, if you missed them before, Actress shared three tracks back in October: Wee Bey, treF and jumpyju.
