Just Jam 117: Four Tet

It’s a video. It’s a mixtape. Just Jam is an online channel recording DJ and musicians while performing and their latest issue features Four Tet playing records for 45 minutes. And since I’m still all over that recent Four Tet show on Rinse, I had to share this one as well. Be sure to also check out the other guest from that session, they were Pearson Sound and Daphni (otherwise known as Caribou).

Pearson Sound – Raindrops

Only a couple of weeks ago, I’ve received this lovely new 7-inch called Raindrops, self-released by Hessle Audio co-founder Pearson Sound. Both tracks stand out from his body of work for their melodies and beatless nature. What I wasn’t aware of is this calming, well, video directed by David Lewandowski (hat-tip to ReqEffect), who previously earned his merits for Flying Lotus’ Tiny Tortures.

Raindrops is out now and available from Pearson Sound’s Surus store, Bleep and all good record stores.

Pearson Sound’s Guide To The Music Of Dave Huismans

RBMA Lecture: Pearson Sound

Actually I wanted to check whether the Scuba lecture was online already, but then I came across this one with Benji B talking to David Kennedy aka Pearson Sound. I’m only halfway through and I got to say it’s an extremely nice one to watch, because David has some good stories to share and he tells them in the most likeable way.

RBMA’s archive of new lectures is growing quickly, you can check some of them on their Vimeo page – hopefully the one with Scuba will follow soon!

Update The Scuba lecture is available as well, not sure whether I overlooked it previously

Weekend Mixtapes

The weekend is nigh, so here’s another collection of mixtapes to get you in the mood for the weekend.

Following their massive album Resurrection, Chicago house veterans Virgo Four are this weeks contributor to XLR8R’s podcast series.

More house music comes by the the way of Mark E, who recently release an album on Ghostly. His mix is part of the label’s own podcast series.

We’ve been sporting Pete Concrete‘s mixtapes whenever there was a new one, so why make a difference? His latest is an exclusive for Dublab.

Fellow blogger Tim of You’ll Soon Know invited S. Maharba as guest for his latest radioshow. As with all shows on NTS Radio, you can download this one for repeated listening.

The latest Hessle Audio show on Rinse FM brought together the talents of Joy Orbison, Pearson Sound, Ben UFO and Floating Points. If you missed the show, you can now grab the podcast.

Pearson Sound also played at London’s Boiler Room the other week and as usual you can download the DJ set or watch videos from the party. And while you’re at it, also check out the mixes from Karizma and Cooly G.

AFTA-1‘s guestmix for Onur Engin’s Monotape must have been around for a while, but I only came across this via We’ve Got The Jazz.

Lastly, I have to mention this mix from Raffertie, who’s playing a fantastic selection of UK bass music on Inverted Audio‘s latest podcast.
