Roland Radio presents Ras G and GB

Roland Radio is a monthly webcast presented by Los Angeles online station dublab and Roland, manufacturer of electronic music instruments. In their latest session, they invited Brainfeeder associate Ras G and GB aka Gifted & Blessed, among others.

For more of these, check out previous sessions featuring Dâm-Funk, The Egyptian Lover, or Daedelus.

Ras G – Raw Fruit

When Ras G lands his spaceship in Los Angeles, he usually brings new beats from outer space. Like this collection of “ruff and gruff” material, recorded at airports, hotels or friend’s places all around the world.

It's Tunesday!

Here are a couple of new tunes for you, most of them were posted in the last 24 hours. Let’s start with this Brownswood double feature, jazz pianist Elan Mehler gets the remix treatment from labelmate Dobie. Only available for the next seven days! Another remix comes from Recloose, who put his hands on a tune by Shake Aletti.

The new single from the upcoming album The Roots is now available from Okayplayer. Singer Eska is featured on a lot of album recently, here’s her rework of an old Police track.

XLR8R is giving away a free track by L.A. beatmaker Ras G from the upcoming compilation Echo Expansion. And a couple of days back Fresh Selects posted a new one by SA-RA’s Shafiq Husayn featuring Fatima.

Okay, I’m leaving you alone already!

Weekly Bits 18/2009

The third edition of the Low End Theory Podcast is now available for download, featuring Gaslamp Killer and Ras G on the decks. Gaslamp Killer is currently touring in support for Flying Lotus, there are still some chances to catch them live.

Another mixtape comes from Rednose Distrikt‘s Aardvarck. In fact, this has been around for a while already, but Crazy Birds brought it to my attention.

Speaking of Aardvarck, Dutch label Eat Concrete has put together an exclusive compilation for Nalden!

Detroit producer Waajeed (Bling47/PPP) was the first DJ to play records on Deviation TV, a new live format from Benji B. If the link doesn’t work for you, try this instead.

Brainfeeder Podcast

Following the Low End Theory Podcast, Los Angeles producers Flying Lotus, Ras G and SAMIYAM have put together the first Brainfeeder podcast. It was previously given away on CD at a Brainfeeder event in LA, but like me you probably haven’t been there. Runs for about half an hour only, I hope the next one will follow soon!
