Matthew Herbert on Symphony X

You have probably watched this when I posted it on Twitter the other day. Matthew Herbert follows the footsteps of Matthias Arfmann, Jimi Tenor and Carl Craig & Moritz von Oswald to rework material from the Deutsche Grammophon catalog.

Herbert chose to pick up on Gustav Mahler unfinished 10th Symphony and explains his approach in this video. Mahler Symphony X is available now on CD and LP.

Recomposed New Mixes

Even before Deutsche Grammophon‘s Recomposed by Carl Craig & Moritz von Oswald was out, rumours of Ricardo Villalobos remixes made the round. This week, a 12-inch finally proved this to be true – at least one Villalobos remix accompanied by another by Carl Craig made it on the record. As you can expect, both are taking the material originally written by Mussorgsky and Ravel and transform it into more dancefloor-oriented versions, and both break the 10 minutes limit easily. If you ask me, they should’ve added an Isolée remix as well.

A. Uli, mein Ponyhof (Ricardo Villalobos remix)
B. Movement 8 (C2 version)

A quick websearch will produce multiple results on where to buy this, I’ve spotted this on Juno, Rush Hour and Piccadilly.
