This video is a joke, of course. It was filmed after Planet E signed a deal with distributor Caroline. Carl Craig outlines his visions of how to take over the world and you get to see footage of Detroit with music from the label playing in the background. Makes me wonder how Carl managed not to laugh once in this!
Another video captures moments of his performance at Centre Pompidou in Paris. Carl was supported by Wendell Harrison of Tribe (saxophone & clarinet), Mad Mike of Underground Resistance (keyboards) and Kelvin Sholar (keyboards). Two tracks from that recording are available on 12-inch through Planet E.
As an appetizer to Flying Lotus‘ performance at Brainfeeder Barcelona, L.A. Record posted this mixtape. A video from the actual night has also been spotted, witness the crowd go crazy to the finest beats from Los Angeles.
In the latest XLR8R Podcast, Dudley Perkins walks us through a selection of love songs. Unconditional Love features music from Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, Eddie Kendricks and everyone else who is concerned with matters of the heart.
London’s Bopstar returns with another podcast, this time presenting his favourite tunes of the year so far. Everybody with a soft spot for soulful dance music should get this one.
Carl Craig’s Planet E has finally announced the Tribe album “Rebirth” to be released on Community Projects soon. While there are no further details, this should be enough to make you wet your pants.
Crate diggers need to check out this serious looking portable turntable called Linos. Finally something that really fits into a pocket.
Detroit producer Carl Craig has re-assembled the remaining members of the Tribe collective to record an album consisting not only of old material, but also new arrangments. Following my review of the Innerzone Orchestra album, I remembered this video about the project.
Additional informations about the project can be found in this interview on Earplug. The record is expected to be released this autumn!
